What’s Your Mantra?

Cancer

A mantra is an instrument of the mind—a powerful sound or vibration that you can use to enter a deep state of meditation.  In mantra meditation, you repeat a particular sound or short phrase.  The mantra can then be used as a tool when you are not meditating.  You can repeat your chosen mantra in your head, or say it out loud, depending on the situation. Many of us face a lot of stress day to day, especially when a cancer diagnosis becomes reality for ourselves or a loved one.  When needed, the mantra can be used to take a break from the constant “talk” in your mind.  Mantras can also change your focus, and bring your mind to a more relaxed, happier place.

  1. “Aum”, “Om”: Sanskrit/Hindu, meaning “It Is” or “To Become”.  Also used in Buddhism and other traditions.
