The patent was filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
It describes a novel way of leveraging cellular therapy to ‘teach’ the immune system to seek and destroy cancer.
In 2021, the company outlined how it was granted US patent #11,090,332 on composition of matter of survivin modified-mRNA useful for teaching the immune system to kill cancer.
The current patent covers specific types of dendritic cells, means of generating specialized dendritic cells, and the planned formulation that will enter clinical trials, it said.
The patent application protects the use of its patented survivin mRNA both as a stand-alone vaccine and as an immunotherapy, it added.

Immunotherapy of cancer represents a very large market which is currently being led by checkpoint inhibitors and CAR-T cells.
